Do You Hear What I Hear?

Do You Hear What I Hear? on Gloria Bakerin säveltämä ja Noël Regneyn runoilema joululaulu vuodelta 1962. Laulu syntyi Kuuban ohjuskriisin aikana, jolloin pelättiin atomisodan alkamista. Regney katseli lastenvaunuissa olevia pienokaisia New Yorkin kaduilla ja teki säkeen "Pray for peace, people everywhere".

Lauluyhtye Singers Unlimited levytti aikoinaan tasokkaita LP-levyjä ja monet a capella lauluyhtyeet ottavat heistä vieläkin mallia. He julkaisivat vuonna 1972 joululevyn josta tässä muutama näyte.
While by my Sheep on saksalaista alkuperää (Als ich bei meinen Schafen wacht) vuodelta 1625:

Joy To The World. Isaac Wattsin sanat vuodelta 1719 perustuvat Psalmiin 98 ja Lowell Masonin sävel vuodelta 1839 perustuu ilmeisesti Händelin sävelmään.

Suomalaisillekin tuttu joululaulu on Oh Come All Ye Faithful (Nyt riemuiten tänne):

Amerikkalainen jazzmuusikko Alfred Burt sävelsi 15 joululaulua, joista tällä levyllä on kaksi. Tässä Nigh Betlehem:

Tiesitkö Maria / Mary Did You Know?

Vuonna 1984 amerikkalaista Mark Lowryä pyydettiin kirjoittamaan tekstiä kirkon joulunäytelmään. Hän kirjoitti sarjan kysymyksiä, joita olisi halunut kysyä Jeesuksen äidiltä Marialta. Myöhemmin Lowry etsi säveltäjää tekstilleen ja Buddy Greenen avulla syntyi erittäin suosittu kristillinen joululaulu Mary Did You Know?
Seppo J. Järvinen on tehnyt kappaleeseen suomenkieliset sanat. Laulun Tiesitkö Maria? esittää aviopari Ari-Pekka ja Erika Niemelä Major Big Bandin säestämänä:

Carol of The Bells / Ring Christmas Bells

Shchedryk - ajankohtainen versio

Ukrainalaisen Mykola Leontovychin säveltämä joululaulu perustuu ukrainalaiseen kansanlauluun Shchedryk. Lauluun tehtiin kahdet eri englanninkieliset sanat. Peter Wilhouskyn versio on nimeltään Carol of The Bells ja Minna Louise Hohmannin sanoitus on nimeltään Ring Christmas Bells. Jälkimmäisen version sanat muistuttavat, että joulun sankari ei jäänyt kehtoon makaamaan, vaan hän on Kuningas.

Libera on englantilainen anglikaaninen poikakuoro. Se koostuu pojista, jotka ovat iältään 7–16-vuotiaita. Tässä he esittävät kappaleen Carol of the Bells:

Ding Dong Merrily On High

Ding Dong Merrily On High on tanssisävelmä 1500-luvulta. Jouluiset sanat siihen väsäsi englantilainen säveltäjä George Ratcliffe Woodward (1848–1934) ja hän julkaisi sen vuonna 1924 kokoelmassaan The Cambridge Carol-Book.
